Comfort Formula Poncho - Pattern Release

24.3.21

The life has changed dramatically for everyone. The new lifestyle calls for more comfortable and simple garments. Since we've been staying at home most of the time we need more cosy and  pretty garments which we can wear at home or walk around feeling relaxed. So today I'd like to share my latest design - Comfort Formula Poncho.

This comfortable oversized garment is knitted with English rib in Aran weight yarn. The design features large armholes, dropped shoulders and long neck.

Front and back of poncho are knitted back and forth on straight needles and the neck is knitted in the round.

The length of poncho can be easily adjusted by knitting more/less rows after increasing section.

Both ponchos are knitted with Drops Nepal from Garnstudio. Any other Aran or Worsted weight yarn can be used instead.

The pattern is size inclusive and written for sizes from 2-4 years up to 4XL. It is available from Ravelry and Lovecrafts

There is 10% discount from Ravelry with code COMFORT10. The offer valid until 28th of March 2021.

Transformer Poncho and Hat pattern release

8.12.20

My new knitting pattern for Transformer Poncho and Hat has been published!

I've been thinking about poncho design with removable sleeves for quite a long time. My main concern was the poncho style - should the poncho have a straight boxy silhouette or should I make some shoulder and edge shaping; neck or hood; should the poncho be knitted in stockinette, textured or cabled stitch?

As you know, I really love knitting cables. However, this time I really wanted to focus on a poncho design and multiple wearing possibilities rather than playing with different types of stitch. As a result, I decided to knit this poncho in stockinette stitch but to keep the knitting process engaging I added a simple cable to the front part. The cable is decorated with very simple 3sts bubbles.

Also, I replaced the edge band with the I-cord bind off in order to prevent the rolling of knitted fabric.

The sleeves are knitted in a form of a long tubes with side holes for thumbs. Thanks to the ribbing the sleeves stay in place without any extra measures. However, for small kids they can be secured with the tiny button attached to the inside of the upper arm of the poncho and the matching chain button loop attached to the top of sleeve.

To complete the look I knitted the matching hat. However, because of the long cable repeat I transformed the cable into small diamonds.

Transformer Poncho and Hat set is knitted with worsted weight yarn. I used Cascade 220 from Cascade yarns in shade 2441. It also can be knitted with any Aran yarn. I would recommend the following substitutions for this set:

-Stylecraft Special Aran with Wool

- MillaMia Naturally Soft Aran

- Debbie Bliss Falkland Aran

- Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran

- Mary Maxim Woodlands

- Malabrigo Rios

Knitting pattern for Transformer Poncho and Hat is available from Etsy, Lovecrafts and Ravelry

This pattern is 10% off on Ravelry with code PONCHO10
