Last year I designed Temptation Poncho and Hat Set for my daughter. It was her favourite outfit for the past autumn. I love it so much so this year I decided to make a similar poncho for myself. So, please welcome Temptation Poncho Adult version.
Today was a lovely sunny day so we used our chance to take some pictures and had some fun together with my daughter.
I really love the idea of the matching outfit for mother and daughter. I think we will wear our ponchos often this spring for the family walks around. Also I think it would one of the best garments for the country side adventures.
For my poncho I used the same yarn Cascade Ecological wool but in shade 8016.
I also wrote a knitting pattern for two sizes S-M and L-XXL.
The knitting pattern for Temptation Poncho – Adult is available from one of my pattern stores:

It is really beautiful Where can I get the kid's poncho pattern?
ReplyDeleteHi, Thank you. Please have a look it here:
Deletehttp://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/temptation-poncho-and-hat-set
I believe the adult poncho pattern has an error on row 19. I'm coming up with 131 stitches versus the needed 164 stitches.
ReplyDeleteDear Carol, thank you for getting in touch. I've just recounted row 19 and haven't found any error. The quantity of stitches is 164. Please double check your calculations. If you need my further assistance please contact me via email which shown in the pattern.
DeleteI just realized i read the pattern repeat incorrectly. I'm so sorry. I really am loving the pattern thus far. Thank you for your prompt reply.
DeleteI am trying to do the child poncho and this is my first time doing a project like this. I'm a little confused. In the beginning when you do the wrap stitch and then turn the work I don't understand if I the start on the next row and leave the short row or if if start the next row pattern and finish out the rest of the say second row then continue the pattern to the third row
ReplyDeleteThank you for getting in touch.
DeleteRows 1 to 8 are short rows, so you do not need to knit all stitches in these rows. Yes, you need to turn your work after wrapped stitch and continue working next row. Please follows row by row instructions as written in the pattern.
Please let me know if you need my further assistance :)
I will and thank you
DeleteAm currently working on the childs pattern, and am finding it such an easy pattern to follow, with clear step by step instructions, have mastered new stitches and techniques from this pattern, am very tempted to do the ladies one next, love knitting it. many thanks
ReplyDeleteThank you for your feedback. Happy knitting!!! :)
DeleteHi I live in australia and was wondering what ply wool that is used for the pattern?
ReplyDeleteIt is 12 ply wool yarn.
ReplyDeleteHei
ReplyDeleteJeg har kjøpt oppskriften av Temptation Poncho and Hat Set for barn. Den er på engelsk. Er mulighet å få den på norsk?
Mvh
Helga
Hi Helga,
DeleteI am sorry. The pattern is available in English only.
Thanks.
Hi Tanya. Wonder if you can help me I purchased the poncho pattern from you earlier on in the year but cannot remember if it was from Etsy or revelry. And now cannot find the download. Just my printed out copy but I don't seem to have the hat pattern on it. So you have to buy it separately? I have 4 to make for Christmas and was looking forward to starting. Hope you can help please
ReplyDeleteThanks
Jill Callender
Hi Jill,
DeleteThank you for getting in touch. Could you please send me your PayPal email address? With this information I can check and find your transaction. Please send it to vitalinacraft@outlook.com Thank you.
Hi there, I am knitting the child's poncho size 8-9 yrs, and not getting the right gauge. I am using the recommended yarn and the size 9 needles, and I get 15 stitches to the inch. Is it ok to go down to size 8?
ReplyDeleteHi, thank you for the getting in touch. I would recommend you to adjust the knitting needle size. Please try the size 8 knitting needles.
I have finished the front, and found there was a different pattern between the bobbles and the neck ribbing than shown in the photos. The photo for adult and 2-3yo sizes have a different cable pattern than I have. Did I do something wrong? Please double check and let me know before I get to the same spot on the back piece. I have a photo but there's no where to upload it?
DeleteHi Jennifer,
DeleteCould you please send your photo to my email:

Thank you.
I am making the smallest size on the round.
ReplyDeleteCould you please tell me where I would stop knitting on the round for the sleeve placement. I realize I veered off the pattern but I wanted to try a sweater on the round. I really don't like sewing up the pieces of a project. Thank you for an excellently written pattern.
Dear Pat,
DeleteThank you for getting in touch and your feedback.
I would recommend you to join parts together when the body piece measures 10 cm along the imaginary side seam and sleeves measure 21 cm.
Please let me know if you need my further assistance.
Happy knitting :)
Are you sure 10 cm. Thats only 2 inches. I've already done 45 rows all in the round.
DeletePlease read the last section of the pattern on the page 12. I've just double checked my poncho. It is about 9 cm from the bottom. I've added picture at the end of the post with the measuring tape.
ReplyDeleteYou can join the sleeves now (after round 45). I think it will look very similar to my version.
I cannot get it to work out cables are not even at end of row 7. Missing k8 at end .size 2 .
ReplyDeleteDear Coral,
DeleteThank you for getting in touch.
Could you please clarify your question. It is not clear what problem you have.
Also please make sure that you follow the row-by-row instructions for short rows 1 to 10 accurately as written.
I bought this pattern but cames in english and I wanted in portuguese that´s is possible?
ReplyDeleteSorry my name is Gladis I´m from Brazil my adress is gladisbuss@gmail.com
DeleteHi Gladis,
DeleteI am sorry but this pattern is available in English only.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThis morning I bought a pattern and I wish I could translate it into Spanish since my English is not very good.
I'm waiting for your answer
Thank you
This pattern is written in English only. Sorry.
DeleteTanya, I have thoroughly enjoyed knitting the poncho! I have a dumb question...when I have transferred the final row of stitches onto a stich holder, what do I do with the attached skein of yarn? Thaks!
ReplyDeleteHi Kat,
DeleteThank you for getting in touch :)
You can cut the yarn leaving about double lehgth of your knitted part for seaming.
what are the measurements for blocking for S/M ? length and width please. Also can I make arms instead of attaching so low to main poncho? i await your answer
ReplyDeleteDear Marie, Thank you for getting in touch.
DeleteFINISHED MEASUREMENTS for S-M are as follows:
- Chest (actual measurements for poncho): 100 cm / 39½ inches
- Length to shoulder: 58 cm / 23 inches
The poncho is designed with modified raglan sleeves. You can start seaming a raglan part of sleeves slightly higher tham in my poncho. But you can't make it with arms.
Hi please help as I am doing the childs poncho and am confused with the first 1-8 rows, am I to follow the written directions for these rows and add in the cable stitches per chart ? Thanks for the help
ReplyDeleteHello Laura,
DeleteThank you for your question.
You don't need to add anything to those rows. The row-by-row instructions have all cables included. The cable charts are given for visualisation of cables.
If you need more help please contact me via email shown in the pattern.
Happy knitting!
Tanya
