Beginner Friendly tutorial: Perfect Neckline Every Time – Knitting Mistakes & Fixes.

 Have you ever struggled with neckband finishing? Maybe your neckband turned out too narrow or too wide, the stitches around the neckline looked untidy, or it was tricky to spread the stitches evenly? What seems like a simple step can cause so many little frustrations!

Over the years, I’ve developed my own set of tricks and techniques to avoid these common issues - not only for neckbands, but also for other ribbed edges like sleeve cuffs and cardigan bands.

I’ve shared them all in a new video on my YouTube channel: “Perfect Neckline Every Time – Knitting Mistakes & Fixes.”

In the video I covered the following mistakes:

-          Loose pick up stitches for neckband

-          Pick up ratio for front and back

-          Narrow neckline and bind off problem

-          Wide neck opening

-          Loose gauge for ribbing

Easy Knitted Slippers Pattern - Gentle Steps for All Ages

 While working away on my new knitting designs (coming soon!), I somehow found myself knitting… yet another pair of cosy slippers!

Did I already mention that after years of not knitting socks, I’m now completely addicted? Probably I did… 😉

Anyway, I’m really happy to introduce my newest design to you today - the Gentle Steps Slippers!

My idea was to create super simple, almost invisible slippers with a clean, minimalist look. After some thinking and swatching, I realized that good old stockinette stitch was the best choice — even if it’s not something I usually go for!

Even the edge band is done in stockinette. And I actually included two versions of the edge band in the pattern - more on that below.

 

To make my pair special, I added a few little embroidered hearts - just a sweet detail. There's a photo tutorial in the pattern and a video tutorial on my YouTube channel if you’d like to add them too, but of course, feel free to skip them! The slippers also look great plain, especially if you use multicoloured or speckled yarn.

 About the pattern:

- Beginner-friendly.

- Written for both children and adults.

- Knit toe-up, with a shaped sole, short-row heel, and finished with an edge band.

- Uses 4-ply sock yarn

Edge band options:

- Simple stockinette edge — clean, minimal, and perfect for quiet days at home

- Double-layered edge band — designed with busy kids (or active adults!) in mind. It offers a snugger fit and you can even add a thin elastic cord inside if needed!

Short knitted socks in simple stitch - Flexy Fit Slippers

 

I am happy to share a new knitting pattern for comfortable short socks -  Flexy Fit Slippers. This pair is a sibling to my popular Flexy Fit Socks. Those slippers are comfortable, practical, and fun to knit.

 The Flexy Fit Slippers are worked in a combination of 1x3 ribbing and stockinette, starting with a heel flap on straight needles. The toe and edge band (in 2x1 rib) are knit in the round. The design is soft, stretchy, and super adjustable - perfect for creating either open or more closed slippers.

The slippers are knitted with fingering/4-ply weight yarn. I used a budget friendly sock yarn from Drops  - Nord. It is alpaca wool blend with  30% of polyester fibre for durability. 

Knitting pattern for Flexy Fit Slippers is beginner-friendly and comes in sizes for both children and adults.

Knitting pattern for Arlet Socks

Fall is the perfect time for knitting a pair of socks or may be even few for yourself an your loved ones! So today, I'd like to share my recent socks design - Arlet socks.

Those beautiful socks is perfect addition to my Arlet collection consist of Arlet vest and Arlet Hat and Mitts set, witch feature the same beautiful cable and textured stitches combo. 

Arlet socks has cuff to toe construction and designed for two adult sizes with adjustable foot length. My pair of socks is knitted with such pretty hand dyed sock yarn Eden Cottage Yarns Nateby 4ply which contains silver lurex fibre and makes the socks look extra special.
