Flying Hunter Vest Knitting Pattern

5.10.14

Inspired by Hunger Games movie I created my new knitting project for my little daughter. It is the Flying Hunter Vest. I wrote a knitting pattern for it as well. This vest is knitted with one of my favourite winter yarn Cascade 220 in light blue colour. It is decorated with a flying bird (a mocking jay) at the front, blue colour represents sky. :)

The PDF pattern can be downloaded on Etsy OR Craftsy OR Ravelry
The hard copy of it can be purchased on eBay

A body of the bird is knitted with intarsia colour technique. Intarsia is a colour technique in which a separate bit or ball of yarn is used for each area of colour. The colours must be crossed at the colour change to prevent holes. So, for the front part of the vest you need two balls of light blue colour and one ball of grey colour. Tail and wings of the bird are knitted separately and attached to the vest with knitter's needle and piece of yarn. A bottom line of the vest as well as neckline and armholes are decorated with a fancy jagged edge.

My knitting pattern is easy to follow and suitable for advanced knitters. It contains six pages of writing instructions, bird chart and very detailed decoration process in pictures. The pattern is made for five sizes: 6-9 months; 9-12 months; 18-24 months; 3-4 years; 5 years.
